Frequently Asked Questions
Who is Maine Adventure Sails?
Schooner Timberwind and Schooner J & E Riggin, both National Historic Sailing Vessels, comprise Maine Adventure Sails.
Why are Maine Adventure Sails vacations so affordable?
Our vacations are all-inclusive with no additional services that require payment once you come aboard.
What is the minimum and maximum number of people you can accommodate?
The Timberwind sleeps 20 and the J & E Riggin sleeps 24.
Where will we go? What will we see/do?
There is not a set itinerary and no inboard engines on our boats, so we go where the wind takes us! Our sailing grounds take us as far south as Boothbay and as far Down East as Bar Harbor. We visit places like Brooklin, Isleboro, Castine, Bucks Harbor and Vinalhaven. In the event that the wind is not cooperating, our yawl boats help us navigate to a new location.
From your perch aboard an historic sailing vessel, you'll see some of the most breathtaking scenery along the East Coast. Maine's numerous bays and harbors are accentuated by rocky islands, sand beaches, tidal estuaries, granite cliffs, lighthouses, wildlife and many islands with bountiful and spectacular scenery.
